Tactical pants Stryke Pant produced by the company 5.11 Tactical have intrigued me since the first official information and advertising video in the middle of autumn 2011. The pants were presented as ultrafine and elastic, durable and functional for usage at the shooting range, work and daily life. It is considered that the pants represent a substantially improved version of the previously produced Taclite Pro Pants.
I really liked clean, not provocative and well thought out functional design of the pants, there is nothing unnecessary. The pants are made of elastic rip-stop material with fibers Flex-Tac ™. On the label from the inner side except for the size and «made in Vietnam», it is also said that the item consists of 65% polyester and 35% cotton.
I am sorry, but the camera has played a malicious joke with me. On the photo the pants turned gray, but their color is actually TDU Green, and it is a couple of shades lighter and greener than pants Jean-Cut. The first sensation after putting the pants on - sports trousers, the pants are really light, comfortable and well ventilated. Just like a second skin they stretch and repeat the bending of the legs in motion, are equally convenient to squat, stand up on knee, lie down and rise.
The material is quite elastic, does not hinder the movements and returns to its original statics state without losing the forms. The knee area is strengthened; there is a special pocket inside, where one can place protective damper inserts. At the bottom at the inner side of the trousers there are provided two holes for broaching the laces, and their subsequent usage as a fixation device.
The design of the waist area of the trousers is the first thing that drew my attention as I see such construction for the first time. This is not the first elastic belt, which I was able to see, but this is the first one with a telescopic design, the elastic band is hidden from the eyes inside the belt and is fixed at the inner side at the level between the second and third band from the middle. Such design of the waist area seems very good if you want to use an inner belt holster.
The pants are tightened with a button at the inner side and the zipper, the button and zipper has a logo 5.11 Tactical. The manufacturer claims that the button is from brand Prym ®, and zipper from YKK. A bigger zipper tongue would be better, while the current one can cause difficulties if it falls back beyond the valve at the bottom. If you select a proper size of the pants, you can do without a belt. Unfortunately, there is no already familiar D-ring, but instead there appeared two waist straps with vertical input.
The pants 5.11 Tactical Stryke Pant are provided with eight pockets of different size and purpose, the pockets are located symmetrically: two back pockets with external valve with fastener, two set-in front pockets of enough capacity with strengthening for the knife or lamp clip and two pockets a bit lower with a vertical loading of small size which are perfect for phone, keys, or M4 magazine. I want to stop at the loin patch pockets in more details as the manufacturer has paid special attention to their design.
The pockets are located higher when compared with the BDU pockets; they are located at 4-5 cm above and are located at an angle. It is convenient to reach to the bottom of the pocket without bending and unnecessary effort. Outwardly the pocket looks narrow, but just because of its elastic material it is quite voluminous. Inside the pocket there are two small sections, inside which one can easily pack one M4 magazine into each. One can move around with the magazines inside the pockets, but it is not comfortable. The pockets are closed with external valve at two small fasteners, as well as on the back pockets. The fasteners fix the valve quite well, and one can open them easily with one hand. There is also created a special hole for pen or pencil on the clip inside the valve in middle.
It’s impossible not to recommend the pants 5.11 Tactical Stryke Pant, they are perfect for three season everyday use in the office, where there is no dress code, at the shooting range and during the hiking and any other nature activities, as well as activities in the city. I think that if you put on thermal underwear underneath the pants, you will be able to wear them in winter up to -20 °C. The pants were ordered on Amazon, and the cost was $ 110. Except green color, the pants were also available in khaki and black. Overall quality of the item is at a high level, as all 5.11 Tactical production.
